Life - Making a change for the better

Best Weekend Ever

Girls Jan 20, 2012 No Comments

Last weekend was the best weekend that I have had in a long time with my two girls. This was the fist time that they came back from moving to Quincy with their mother. It’s a long story on where I’ve been in the last year and a half which I will write about soon. Emily and Molly had a great time working on some of their projects that they got for Christmas and we went to the Champaign Public Libary to see the winter animals that hibernate during the winter. They got to see and take pictures, with their little cameras, of a couple of Box Turtles and a Eastern Screech Owl that had only one eye. The girls loved it and thanked me for taking them to that event.

We also made some homemade mayo and Italian herb bread.

I also cooked up some all organic ravioli with pesto and shrimp. The girls ate it up and loved the shrimp and bread. We also planted some flowers that my sister Cortney gave them and then we did our first spell together. Both girls did a wish spell and planted some White Sage to represent the growing of their wish as the plant grows. All and all the girls played with their new toys and laughed and laughed and just had a good old time.

They are coming back on the 27th of this month and I thought about taking them to William M. Staerkel Planetarium that weekend. I hope that it is open and hope that they will love it just as much as the animals.

Ok, after a bout of letting everything go I think that it is time to start to rebuild the right way. I been doing a lot of thinking over the last few months and I have to tell you that a lot of that time has been about “What am I doing with my life”. I have two little girls that I love very much and I start to think “What am I teaching them”? So since the start of 2010 I redesigned this site from a personal tech blog to a “Go Green” site. That was good but we fell off the whole going green thing after about 4 months. Not sure why but I think that it was just easier to go back to what we knew worked. My wife is working 3 jobs and doing her masters online (crazy but that’s how she likes it). I am working on my BS in CIS with a focus on the Health Care sector. Now, I have a love/hate relationship  with technology that has grown to more of a hate than anything else. I really started in the whole computer/design/repair/networks/programming thing in 1998. I thought it was the cool thing to do and made me feel a bit elite. Well after about 4 years my soul felt sucked dry and was becoming more and more of a machine myself. This affected everything, my home life, friends, family, religion. Since then it’s just been a way to make a living. However I start to think – Am I just living to work? The answer is a big YES or I think that is what I have come up with as of today.

So starting today I am starting to make plans to reverse that. I am going to start working to live. I am going to use this as a way to help me push forward with making that change. I won’t promise updates on a regular basis but as they naturally develop.

The overall goal is to:

  • Find a good area to live in. (IL is not for me anymore…)
  • Find a good home.
  • Get off the grid. (completely)
  • Get away from buying 95% of all items from the grocery store.
  • Eat better by growing and raising our own food.
  • Not have to work a traditional “job”. (Not lazy here just rather be in the fields working)
  • Have a better life with my family.

This is just a list off the top of my head. I know that it is going to take some time to get these things done and many roadblocks lie ahead and the list might change… However I know that we can do it and it starts here. Today.

Living in Danville, IL has taught me a lot of things. The one that sticks out the most is hope. I have always hoped that there would be a time that I could start up many business here and help turn around the city. Partner up with my friend and family and have fun at whatever business that we started. Now a lot of that is gone. I will not be continuing with the Food-Coop idea and streamlining the rest of my businesses down to just a pure consulting business focusing on web programming. I hope to be leaving this city soon and the skills that I have aquired over the years can be use anywhere I go.

The blog how it has been will be going away and a new look and feel will be coming soon. This will focus on my personal skills and talents as it was when I first started this site many years ago.

I thank the follower and supporters and like to tell you that this isn’t the end but only the beggining of the reinvention of Sean Schroder. I have for way to long been putting to much effort into what could be instead of what can be now.

I look forward to this change and will be back soon to update this site with a new look and feel. I will be having some domains for sale soon which will be listed below in the Items for Sale section in the sidebar.
